  Second Session: Plans and Activities

Last semester was a wonderful first half of the year. This semester we want it to be even better with many things planned for our members and the general public.
This Spring ‘99 semester is full of things to do in the club. We will be busy throughout the semester with our preparation for our annual New Year Cultural Shows which attracts over 600 people. We need people to help with the preparation and to participate with different acts and dances of the show. If you or anyone you know might like to help please contact us. We have a lot of positions still available. We need people to help with our security, lighting, sound, dance, acting skit, decoration and many other. If you can spare a little time to help us out we would really appreciate it. You can help to keep our culture and heritage alive. We plan to meet every Fridays from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM in theCBA building room 139. We have so many things to discuss. Those of you interested please come by and bring a friend with you. We have a lot of fun at the meeting with food and a lot of socializing.
This semester we are also offering for everyone especially the general public our FREE Khmer History Class. The class start on Saturday, February 13th, 1999. The class will be held at the United Cambodian Community Center(UCC), 2338 Anaheim St., Long Beach. The time is from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM is the Discussion Forum following the lecture. This class is a 14 week session class meeting once a week.
On February 28th, 1999 CSS has planned a trip to the new Getty Museum in Los Angeles. We have reserve 25 free seats for our members. For more information come to our meeting or contact any of the officers.
With the success of our Christmas party last semester, we have decided to give out three (3) scholarship in the amount of $200 each to our fellow students. We will have more information later. If you would like more information contact us.
Later on in the semester we would like to come out with our very own Cambodian Student Society T-Shirt. We are accepting designs. If you have a good design please submit it to us. If we like and use your design you will get a FREE t-shirt.
For the Fall semester regarding our newsletter we plan to come out with at least two more issues. Last semester we had planned and hope to come out with three (3) issues. Unfortunately we were not able to do so due to problems arising with our source of publisher. This semester with have a more reliable publisher, Dise, who are willing to help us out. We want to publish about 1000 copies per issue. For the New Year Cultural Show we plan to do a special edition. We might need to publish more than 1000 copies. This is costly but we need to do it.
We in the newsletter department still need the members help to ask for donations and submit writings to be published. We also need the members to participating with the publication of the newsletter. If you are interested please let us know. We have many positions available in our newsletter department.
Beside the newsletter department we have many other positions in other departments need filling up. Come see us for more details.
We have a new webmaster this semester. Our website is well kept up thanks to Pok Khem. We want to welcome to the club. He has updated and made many additional improvements. If you have not surf our site yet please do. The site is http://www.csulb.edu/~camss
Last but not least of all we plan to end this Spring semester with another bonfire, picnic or a trip. We will let the members decide.
