Fourth Annual Fall Back-to-School Bonfire September 25,1998
For the past three years, the Cambodian Student Society has hosted their annual Fall
Back-to-School Bonfire at Bolsa Chica Beach. The purpose of the get-together was for
us to meet with old friends, make new ones, swap summer break stories, and to basically
have a blast while enjoying the warm Southern California weather. This year is no different.
The Fourth Annual Bonfire was held on Friday, September 25 at Bolsa Chica Beach once
again. I was really impressed with the crowd turnout. We (CSS Officers) estimated that
there were approximately 80 people in attendance (coming and going of course).
Personally, I had a memorable evening as I met with friends I haven't seen in so long. We
updated one another about the things that are going on in our lives. However, the highlight
of the evening was having the opportunity to meet new people. I met some really nice
fellow students from CSU Fullerton, UC Irvine, UCLA, and students from local high
schools. Also, I met those who are not in school and are doing well in the real world. It
was interesting to hear their stories. I noticed that people were having a good time as they
played football, ate the many goodies, roasted marshmallows, sang and danced around
the fire. Over all, it was an exciting evening! And I hope to see many of the new faces
again soon.
